Instructions for the Use and Maintenance of PSA Nitrogen Generator Packing Carbon Molecular Sieve
Nitrogen is the most abundant gas in the air, and it is an infinite source that can be used endlessly. It is colorless, odorless, transparent, and belongs to the category of weakly reactive gases, which cannot sustain life. High-purity nitrogen gas is often used as a protective gas to isolate oxygen or air. The content of nitrogen (N2) in air is 78.084% (the volume fraction of various gases in air is: N2:78.084%, O2:20.9476%, argon:0.9364%, CO2:0.0314%, and other rare gases such as H2, CH4, N2O, O3, SO2, NO2, etc.), with a molecular weight of 28, a boiling point of -195.8℃, and a condensation point of -210℃.
The Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) nitrogen-making process employs pressurized adsorption and regular-pressure desorption, and must use compressed air. The currently used adsorbent – carbon molecular sieve adsorption pressure ranges from 0.75 to 0.9 MPa, and the entire nitrogen-making system is pressurized and has impact energy.
The PSA nitrogen-making machine is an automated device that uses carbon molecular sieve as an adsorbent to adsorb and release oxygen from the air, separating nitrogen through the principle of pressurized adsorption and depressurized desorption. Carbon molecular sieve is a cylindrical granular adsorbent made mainly of coal, processed through grinding, oxidation, molding, carbonization, and special pore treatment processes, with its surface and interior covered in micropores, appearing black.
Anti-oil measures for filling carbon molecular sieve of PSA nitrogen-making machine
-
Provide qualified compressed air according to the instructions of this user manual.
-
Replace the filter element of the filter according to the user manual regularly.
-
Replace the activated carbon in the high-efficiency oil remover regularly according to the user manual.
Anti-moisture measures for filling carbon molecular sieve of PSA nitrogen-making machine
-
Avoid exposing carbon molecular sieve to the air for a long time or coming into contact with moisture, as this will cause its lifespan and nitrogen production capacity to decrease.
-
During operation, ensure that compressed air is effectively dried according to the design requirements, otherwise nitrogen production efficiency will be reduced.
-
During long-term shutdown, close the inlet and outlet valves of the adsorption tower to prevent carbon molecular sieve inside the adsorption tower from coming into direct contact with air.
Regular maintenance of filling carbon molecular sieve of PSA nitrogen-making machine
-
After the equipment is put into operation, observe the sinking or pulverization of the molecular sieve, make written records, and notify the manufacturer to provide processing suggestions.
-
The addition or replenishment of molecular sieve must be guided and approved in writing by the manufacturer or designated personnel authorized by the supplier.
Troubleshooting for filling carbon molecular sieve of PSA nitrogen-making machine
When carbon powder or carbon molecular sieve particles are discharged from the exhaust port of the muffler, immediately stop the machine and notify the manufacturer to analyze the cause and take corresponding effective measures.
